Caleya Black is a Jersey songstress who finds music as her passion. Caleya was inspired by soul legends such as The Supremes and The Temptations growing up and wound up studying music when she got a bit older, studying with the Maude Carroll Music Foundation, where she was trained in the classical school of music. During this time, she received high honors from the Piano Teachers Society of America and the Music Educators of America.
She has seen her share of the music industry both behind the scenes and in the spotlight, interning for Virgin Records and sharing the stage with hip hop stalwart Mos Def. Since then she has previously released two albums, Our Song and Roulette. For 2017, Caleya brings to us her soulful debut Still Loves and it’s definitely for the grown and sexy.
Still Loves takes you back to a time when R&B existed and love was actually love, not a four letter word as a raunchy gimmick like some of the music you hear on the radio today. Caleya sings from the heart on every track that you hear, speaking a tale of love, loss and heartache and wrapped it up delicately in a 5-track EP. You can hear a smooth ode to Mtume’s “Juicy Fruit” in “Us” (which is on my repeat button) and her powerful vocal range in the title track.
Still Loves is a must have if you are a fan of true R&B and it’s available now to stream on Spotify.
